Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is processed when you use this website and the Freelance Rate Calculator. Your inputs stay in your browser.
1. Controller
The controller for data processing on this website is:
Tobias Nösel (sole proprietor)
Nieschlagstraße 10
30449 Hannover
Germany
Email: info@freelanceboosters.com, phone: +49 155 66873600.
Full provider details are in the Legal Notice.
2. The calculator runs in your browser
The Freelance Rate Calculator is a program that runs in your browser. Your inputs (take-home goal, working time, expenses, other income, health insurance and retirement amounts, tax details) are processed exclusively in your browser and are not transmitted to us or to third parties. The calculation and the print view also happen on your device.
- Default: inputs live only in the memory of the page and are lost when you reload or close it.
- Optional with your consent (“Remember my inputs”): inputs are stored in your browser’s local storage (localStorage, key
frc.v1.state) and restored on your next visit. - Purpose: convenience, so you do not have to enter your data again.
- Legal basis: your consent under section 25(1) TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR
- Duration: until you delete the data (clear your browser data, or withdraw consent under “Cookie settings”, which removes the entry)
- Disclosure: none
Backup file: If you use “Save inputs”, your browser creates a JSON file on your device. It contains only your inputs and is not transmitted to us. With “Load inputs” your browser reads such a file locally. You are responsible for protecting the file, for example when you store it in cloud storage.
3. Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by Hostinger. For customers in the European Union the provider is Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos Street, 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus. When you open this website, Hostinger processes technically necessary connection data to deliver the pages and to ensure security: IP address, date and time, requested page, amount of data transferred, and information about your browser and operating system (server log files). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and stable operation). The data is deleted according to the hosting provider’s retention periods.
Data processing agreement: Hostinger processes the data on our behalf. The processing is governed by Hostinger’s Data Processing Addendum under Art. 28 GDPR, which is part of its terms of service, and which also lists the sub-processors. For transfers to countries outside the European Economic Area without an adequacy decision, Hostinger relies on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). More information is in Hostinger’s privacy policy.
When you download the single file Freelance-Rate-Calculator.html and open it on your device, no server requests occur.
4. Cookies, browser storage and your consent
This website sets no tracking cookies and uses no advertising, analytics or social media tools. On your first visit the notice “Privacy & local storage” asks for your choice:
- Necessary (always on): storing your choice (
frc.v1.consent, 12 months) and, only if you use the light/dark switch, your theme choice (frc.v1.theme). Legal basis: section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR. - Optional (off until you agree): remembering your inputs, see section 2.
You can choose “Necessary only” or “Accept all”, or decide individually under “Settings”. Both are equally easy. Your choice applies to all pages of this website (calculator, guide, privacy policy, legal notice, disclaimer and contact). You can change or withdraw it at any time with effect for the future via in the footer of every page. Processing carried out before the withdrawal remains lawful.
5. External services
This website does not load any content from third parties: no fonts, no scripts, no analytics, map or social media services. Links to legal texts and sources lead to external websites; data (for example your IP address) is processed there only after you click them. The privacy notices of the respective providers apply.
6. Getting in touch
If you contact us by email or phone, we process your details (for example name, email address, content of your message) to handle and answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the request relates to a contract, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (interest in answering requests). The data is deleted once your request is settled and no statutory retention duties apply. We do not pass it on to third parties unless required by law or necessary to enforce legal claims.
7. Your rights
Within the legal requirements you have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). You may object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21) and withdraw consent you have given at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, Germany. For questions about your rights please use the details on the Contact page.
You can view and delete the data the calculator stores in your browser yourself: with the delete functions of your browser, or by switching off “Remember my inputs” in the cookie settings.
